Jan 26–Feb 1: “Teach These Things Freely unto Your Children” (Genesis 5; Moses 6)
From “just a lad” to a mighty seer. This week, we walk beside Enoch as he learns that God doesn’t call the confident — He creates them.
Last week, we saw Adam and Eve make the courageous choice to leave the Garden so they could learn, grow, and become like their Heavenly Parents. This week, we see the fruit of that choice as their family grows through the generations.
In the middle of a long list of names, the scriptures pause to tell us something remarkable: “And Enoch walked with God.” Behind that simple line is a powerful story about fear, faith, and learning to trust the Lord one step at a time.

Enoch, the Seer
"I saw the world in a brand new way."
When we take the Lord’s hand, our
vision changes and our small
steps turn into mighty miracles.
Set the Stage: The Prophet Who Felt Small
Imagine being asked to do something really big — like standing up and speaking for God — when you feel quiet, unsure, or not very good with words. That’s exactly how Enoch felt.
When the Lord called him, Enoch didn’t feel strong or ready. He said he was “slow of speech” and worried that people wouldn’t listen to him. But instead of asking Enoch to be perfect, the Lord gave him a simple invitation: “Walk with me.” As Enoch trusted God and took that first step, the Lord helped him see differently, speak with power, and do things he never thought were possible.
The Big Idea: God Works Through Willing Hearts
This week teaches children that God doesn’t need us to be the loudest, strongest, or most confident to do His work. He just asks us to walk with Him. When we trust the Lord and take one step at a time, He can turn our weaknesses into strengths and help us do hard things.

Lyric Highlight
"I was slow of speech, I was scared and shy
But now there's a fire burning in my eye"
Reflect: What do you think it means to have a “fire” inside you? When have you felt brave enough to do something hard, even if you were nervous?
Family Activity
Try This: Take a short walk together. Have one child close their eyes while another gently leads them by the hand.
Reflect: Was it easier to walk when someone you trusted was guiding you? How is walking with the Lord like that?

| “You better watch out for the Wild Man!” | Moses 6:38 — “And it came to pass, when they heard him, no man laid hands on him; for fear came on all them that heard him; for he walked with God. And there stood a man on the high places, and called unto them with a loud voice, and testified against their works; and all men were offended because of him. And they said unto one another: Behold, a wild man hath come among us.” |
| “He’s talking to the water and the water obey / He’s talking to the mountain and it moves away” | Moses 7:13 — “And so great was the faith of Enoch that he spake the word of the Lord, and the earth trembled, and the mountains fled, even according to his command; and the rivers of water were turned out of their course; and the roar of the lions was heard out of the wilderness; and all nations feared greatly, so powerful was the word of Enoch, and so great was the power of the language which God had given him.” |
| “The giants are scared… running fast across the open field” | Moses 7:15 — “And the giants of the land, also, stood afar off; and there went forth a curse upon all people that fought against God;” |
