Jan 19–25: “The Fall of Adam and Eve” (Genesis 3–4; Moses 4–5)
From a paradise lost to a world of possibility! This week, we’re exploring why the Fall was a necessary step in God’s plan and how we can resist temptation with the help of our Savior.
Last week, we celebrated the masterpiece of the physical Creation and the gift of our sacred bodies. We saw Adam and Eve waking up in a perfect Garden, but this week, the story takes a turn. To become like our Heavenly Parents, Adam and Eve had to move from a place where everything was easy to a world where they could learn, make choices, and grow.

The Great Choice
"It was a big choice, heavy on the mind
Leaving all the paradise far behind"
The Big Idea: Growing is Worth the Effort
This week teaches children that growing up requires choice — and choosing right is something we can learn.
If Adam and Eve had stayed in the Garden of Eden forever, they would have been safe, but they never would have changed. They wouldn't have had children, they wouldn't have known the difference between joy and sorrow, and they wouldn't have learned how to repent (see 2 Nephi 2:19-27).
The Fall wasn't a mistake—it was a necessary step in the Plan of Happiness. Because Adam and Eve chose to leave the Garden, we all have the chance to come to Earth, get a body, and use our agency. Yes, the world can be hard and full of "thorns and thistles," but those challenges are exactly what help us become more like Jesus Christ.

Leaving all the paradise far behind...
We need a Savior on the block!"

Family Activity
Try This: Give your children a picture to color (like a garden or a person), but give them only one crayon. After a minute, ask them if it would be better to have more colors.
Reflect: Why is it better to have choices, even if having choices means we might sometimes pick the "wrong" color or make a mistake?
Reflect Again: Adam and Eve chose to leave the Garden so they could learn and grow. How does having the "power to choose" help you become more like Heavenly Father? (Hint: Re-watch The Power to Choose lyric video to remember why we fought for our agency!)
Note to Parents: This activity is a musical twist on the object lesson found in this week’s Come, Follow Me manual. We’ve paired it with the high-energy rhythm of "Snake in the Grass" to help the doctrine of agency really stick!
Listen & Watch
Snake in the Grass
This sassy, high-energy ska-pop anthem captures the moment of temptation in Eden. With a catchy cheerleader chant (S-N-A-K-E!), it teaches kids that while temptation is "sneaky and tricky," we can choose to listen to the "Promise" and the "Plan" instead.
My Brother's Keeper
A catchy folk-pop track that explores the story of Cain and Abel. It tackles big feelings like jealousy and anger, reminding us that we have the power to control our feelings and "rule over" our mistakes and that we are, truly, our brother’s keeper.
