February 23–March 1: “Is Any Thing Too Hard for the Lord?” (Genesis 18–23)

From the burning plains of Sodom to the quiet heights of Mount Moriah, this week is about exercising faith in God’s promises even when the math doesn’t add up. We learn that the Lord doesn’t just prove us—He improves us—and that no mountain is too high when we trust the One who provided the Lamb.

The Journey So Far
Last week, we stepped outside the tent with Abraham to see a "panoramic picture" of the stars and learned that a covenant is a relationship of trust that can never be broken. This week, that trust is put to the ultimate test. We move from the excitement of the promise to the reality of the walk. Whether it’s Lot’s family fleeing a wicked city or Abraham climbing a mountain with his son, we discover that faith isn’t just about the "yesterdays" we leave behind—it is always pointed toward the future.

This week’s stories show faith at two critical moments: the courage to leave behind what must be abandoned, and the trust to give up what feels impossible to lose.

Faith is for the Future

"Leave all the silver and the gold on the floor
We're walking out and we're closing the door..."

Faith is for the future. Like Lot and his family, we are invited to flee the things that hold us back and look forward with confidence in God's plan.

Set the Stage: The Great Escape

Lot and his family lived in a city that had become very wicked, and when angels warned them to leave, they had to move fast. However, leaving is difficult when your heart is still attached to the past. Elder Jeffrey R. Holland teaches that Lot’s wife failed because her attachment to her "yesterdays" outweighed her confidence in her future. This week, we learn to look back only to gather warmth from past experiences—not to live in the ashes of what God is asking us to leave behind.

The Big Idea: In Proving Us, He Improves Us
Sometimes the Lord asks us to do things that "don't add up" to our natural minds, such as fleeing a home or offering a heavy sacrifice. These tests are designed to see if we will do all things the Lord commands. As the manual teaches, "In proving us, God also improves us." These moments are not just about checking our obedience; they are about God helping us become more than we were before the trial began.

Scripture Bridge

Genesis 19:17 "Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed."

Lyric Highlight

Don't Look Back
"Don't look back! (No, no!)
Keep your eyes on the road ahead!
Remember what the angels said!
We gotta run to the mountain, out of the rain.
Whatever you do, keep your feet on the ground...
And don't look back!"

Reflect: Lot’s wife looked back because she was missing what she left behind in the city. Is there a "yesterday" or an old mistake you are holding onto that makes it hard to run toward the "good things to come?"

Family Activity

The 60-Second Escape

Try This: Set a timer for 60 seconds and have your children find three items they would "flee" with if they had to leave a wicked city.

Reflect: Talk about why Lot’s wife looked back—was she missing the things she left behind? Discuss how your family can help each other look forward with faith in the Savior.

The Test

This week, as we release The Test, we’ve chosen not to create an animated video, but we have a lyric video with still images.

The story of Abraham and Isaac is sacred—and also deeply personal for many. Over the years, we’ve learned that “tests” come in many forms, and some are especially tender and close to the heart. Each person carries their own experiences, losses, and questions—often quietly, often unseen.

We believe that while our tests may look different, they can all become moments that draw us closer to our Heavenly Father. Some are still in the middle of theirs. Some are learning how to carry what they’ve been given. And all of us walk those paths in different ways, at different times.

Because of the sensitivity of this story—and out of respect for those whose experiences are still raw—we felt it was important to let the music and message stand on their own this time. Our hope is that listeners will find space to reflect, to feel, and to connect with God in the way that is most meaningful for them.

If you are in the middle of a test right now, you are not alone. And if this song meets you quietly, we hope it meets you gently.
